'Look Here' Awe Walk and Viewfinder Accessory - Clerkenwell Design Week 2026
For Clerkenwell Design Week 2026, Louisa Tan (Common Exception) and I launched the Viewfinder Accessory, a dual-purpose wearable design object, part viewfinder, part accessory, alongside two special edition Awe Walks titled 'Look Here'.
Louisa and I created Awe Walks to invite people to look more closely at the world around them, discovering tiny moments of awe hiding in plain sight. For previous walks, we had been hand-cutting simple viewfinders from leftover coloured card to frame small details along the way. People asked us if they could keep the viewfinders to continue looking for awe in their everyday lives, so we came up with a more permanent solution, one that didn’t disintegrate in the rain!
Working with sustainable surfaces manufacturer Smile Materials, we developed the Viewfinder Accessory from 100% recycled plastic off-cuts, something that could be worn on the wrist or as a bag pendant, and used long after the walk is over. It felt very much in line with our ethos: appreciating small moments of wonder while creating something with longevity and purpose, without generating waste.
Unveiled for the first time at Clerkenwell Design Week, our 'Look Here' Awe Walks guided participants through the neighbourhood using the Viewfinder to frame moments of colour, pattern, texture, and to wear it afterwards as a reminder to keep looking closely for the joy in the world around them.
