FLOOR_STORY - 'East London Lines' Rug
'East London Lines' is a rug collaboration with FLOOR_STORY and is hand-tufted from 100% New Zealand wool.
My design grew out of a long-term photographic study of East London's Overground route, something I've been quietly documenting for years. I've lived in Hackney my whole life and have always been drawn to the bold patterns and geometric shapes along that journey: shadow lines, glass reflections, the interplay of light and structure across stations and train interiors. I've translated these overlooked details into a collage of geometric forms, tonal contrasts and intersecting lines.
My colour palette of cool blues, soft sage and mottled monochrome was carefully refined through multiple rounds of sampling with the FLOOR_STORY team, softening my original bold colours to suit interior settings, while keeping a sense of joy and calm and creating something that could live comfortably as a large feature within a room.
My rug works across a range of environments, from living rooms and studios to creative workspaces and hospitality settings. The design is fully customisable, with options for bespoke sizing, shape and colourways, allowing specifiers and clients to adapt the piece to their scheme.
