Music + Awe is a creative listening experience by myself and Common Exception, using our shared love of sound, movement and play to spark wonder and joy.

 

We're on a mission to share the power of music and the feelings of awe that come with it. Created for NOW Gallery as part of London Design Festival, Music + Awe combines live music, visual art and movement in a multi-sensory creative session.

 

​​In the workshop we explored how different sounds and beats help us create. We led visitors through a series of tasks in response to a live DJ set by Guava Jamz. Common Exception and I curated a playlist of different songs - from fast-paced electronic beats, to deep and dubby basslines and joyful disco. Each track becomes a prompt for creative play. 

 

Together we explored how shifting rhythms and different sounds inspire unique shapes, marks and lines through drawing and collage. 

With eyes closed, pens in hand and bodies swaying to the beat, participants created abstract patterns and vibrant layered collages inspired by the music.​​​​​​
