The Big Draw

I joined a Hackney reception class of 4 years olds for The Big Draw - a day that many schools take part in which celebrates drawing as a vital tool. Using the shapes, colours and patterns around us in the classroom as inspiration, we created 15 ft long drawings that spread from one side of the classroom to the other. We also drew in sand using unusually shaped objects from the classroom and we drew in water using coloured inks.
I was honoured to be asked to be part of such an important day as I believe that being able to communicate visually is such a vital tool and is a learning technique that I continue to use for myself even into my adult years.

'Drawing is a vital tool in many professions - from mathematicians to surgeons, architects to engineers, therapists, political commentators to graphic designers. The humble pencil has built many a pioneer within every profession you can imagine.' - The Big Draw
